Time off between undergrad/medical school/residency: Brief stint as a violinist with an orchestra in Texas; research gig at Massachusetts General Hospital; Analyst, non-proliferation and bio-terrorism at the Council on Foreign Relations, a foreign-policy think-tank
Future interests: Global Health (Doctors without Borders), Military Medicine, Serving the underserved communities in my home state
Most interesting fact about me: Singer for a punk-rock band (really long, unkempt hair, lots of screaming, and really horrible, out-of-tune power chords). I’m also a General Surgery –> Emergency Medicine convert.
Family members: Two older sisters, one an attorney in Boston and the other doing residency in Pediatrics in San Francisco. Hobbies: Capoeira, Country/Western Fiddle, Horseback riding, Independent/Foreign films, Traveling

Why Jefferson EM: Our intern class, upper levels, and faculty are nothing short of amazing. We also have great Pediatric experience at Dupont and CHOP, diverse patient populations between Jeff and Methodist, fellowships in Ultrasound and Global Health, and are located in the best spot in Philadelphia, Center City.

If I weren’t an Emergency doc, I would be: hmm…a Jeweler, or a professional e-sports competitor
Most interesting fact about me: Philly native. I’ve been here since I was 6 and have not moved ever since!
Family members: I have one sister. I have family scattered mostly along the East Coast
Hobbies: I picked up guitar in medical school, which is a really bad time to start learning…but I enjoy playing it every day. I also like to try different things, sing karaoke, eat different foods, watch sports (e-sports included), and travel.
Favorite food: anything spicy! Especially Szechuan food, hot wings, yum.
Favorite spot in Philly: Chinatown for food. East bank of Schuylkill River for a nice jog/stroll.

Why Jefferson EM: The class of 2014 is amazing! The Class of 2014 is amazing! I couldn’t have asked for better colleagues! The program directors are cognizant about selecting a group of residents that really meshes well together. The location is one of the greatest in the country. The city has so much to offer, regardless of your interests, be they food, sports, museums, outdoors activities, or night life. Most importantly, the training received at Jefferson is as diverse as the patient population itself. Residents rotate through private, teaching, and community hospitals, getting exposure to a wide spectrum of patients and practice settings.

Most interesting fact about me: Worst person at controlling laughter at inappropriate times, I’m 25% Japanese (maternal grandmother). When I told my grandmother that I wanted to go to medical school she told me I’d be more successful being a comedian (Im really not that funny… maybe funny looking)
