Dan Thai, DO

Hobbies/Interests: Mushroom foraging, cat parent, video games
EM interests: Toxicology, ultrasound, medical education
5 Year Plan: Community hospital for a few years after residency then maybe teaching hospital

Jack Raskin, MD

Hobbies/Interests: Cooking, running, riding my bike in Philadelphia, drinking craft beer, traveling, keeping my cat from eating my houseplants
EM interests: Toxicology, addiction medicine, rural medicine
5 Year Plan: Ideally a job as an attending in a community setting, or wherever my brilliant partner Kelly (see picture) decides to bring me for her fellowship.
This year I’m most excited about: Exploring the many bars, breweries, and restaurants of Philadelphia with my fellow interns!

Richie Liberio, MD

Hobbies/Interests: The beach, basketball, golf, and a good IPA!
EM interests: Critical care, ultrasound, and medical education
5 Year Plan: I plan to survive residency, maybe move to the Philly suburbs and work at a community hospital with connections to an academic center where I can still interact with residents/students. Also, get another dog.
This year I’m most excited about: Hanging with my co-interns and going to an eagles game or two!

Alex Bergsman, MD

Hobbies/Interests: Balling out, gaming, going to punk and emo shows, bass guitar, painting miniatures, aimlessly wandering the city with my dog Peanut.
EM interests: RLQ pain
5 Year Plan: Working in community medicine and maybe getting a dog friend for Peanut
This year I’m most excited about: Learning about the foundations of practicing emergency medicine, doing as many procedures as I can, and most of all getting to know and spend time with my new intern friends!

Maryann Jordan Bushek, DO

Paige Evans, DO

Hobbies/Interests: All things birds plus avian medicine, surfing, skiing, gymnastics, horseback riding, and building construction.
EM interests: EMS, tactical medicine, and critical care
5 Year Plan: I’d love to continue to work at Jeff as well as work at my hometown ED. I also want to become the EMS medical director for my county. Finally, I want to start an avian sanctuary in my spare time to help all the ducks and birds in need.
This year I’m most excited about: Learning as much as I can so that I can become the best emergency physician for my patients.

5 Year Plan: Potentially a fellowship in disaster/EMS, but I’m just hoping I haven’t ended up with 12 cats by the end of residency
This year I’m most excited about: Getting to know my fellow residents and experiencing all the different rotations!

Hobbies/Interests: Running, hiking in the mountains, biking, board games, camping, skiing, swimming, spontaneous road trips, exploring breweries or new places to eat.

5 Year Plan: Working in an urban county/academic ER, have visited every state in the U.S., run the Boston and New York marathon.
This year I’m most excited about: Training at this amazing program, hanging outside of work with the other residents, getting to live in Philadelphia and walk everywhere, and post shift drinks at Milkboy.
